Exercise
Groodles need 60 to 90 minutes of exercise daily. They inherit energy from both the Golden Retriever and Poodle, making them athletic and playful. They love swimming, retrieving games, and long walks. Off-leash time in secure areas lets them burn energy freely. On the Gold Coast, they enjoy beach visits and water play at dog-friendly swimming spots. Mental stimulation is equally important — puzzle toys, training sessions, and nose work keep their intelligent minds satisfied. A bored Groodle can become destructive.
Grooming
The Groodle's coat — whether wavy or curly — requires significant upkeep. Brush thoroughly every one to two days with a slicker brush to prevent matting. Professional grooming every six to eight weeks is essential for clipping and shaping. The Gold Coast humidity can make their coat frizzy and prone to matting, so consistent brushing is critical. Pay extra attention to areas behind ears, armpits, and around the collar. Clean ears weekly, as the Poodle heritage means hair can grow inside ear canals. Regular dental care is important.
Feeding
Feed one and a half to three cups of high-quality food per day depending on size, divided into two meals. Choose a formula appropriate for their size — standard Groodles need a large-breed food, while smaller varieties need a medium-breed formula. Groodles can be food motivated and may overeat, so measure portions carefully. Include omega-3 fatty acids for coat health.
