Care in the comfort of home.

Some pets just do better at home — and that's perfectly fine. Our sitters come to your place to handle feeding, medication, litter trays, playtime, and all the little things that keep your pet comfortable and your home looked-after. It's the most popular choice for cats, senior pets, and anxious animals who'd rather stay on their own turf.

How it works

1

Book a visit

Tell us your pet's routine — when they eat, what medication they need, how many visits per day, and any quirks (like the cat who only drinks from the bathroom tap). Set up daily, twice-daily, or custom visit schedules.

2

Sitter comes to you

Your sitter uses the access method you choose — key handover, lockbox, or smart lock code. They'll arrive on time, let themselves in quietly, and start taking care of business. No need to arrange anything complicated.

3

Feed, play, medicate

Meals served on schedule, fresh water topped up, medication administered precisely, litter trays scooped, cages cleaned, and — most importantly — genuine quality time with your pet. This isn't a 5-minute in-and-out. Your pet gets real interaction, play, and companionship.

4

Updates sent

After every visit, you'll receive photos of your pet, a feeding log, medication confirmation if applicable, and a note about their mood and behaviour. You'll know exactly what happened, what they ate, and how they're doing — even when you're on the other side of the world.

What's included

Feeding & fresh water

Your pet's feeding routine is followed to the letter — same food, same portions, same times, same bowls. We handle raw diets, prescription food, wet/dry combos, and fussy eaters who need their food heated to exactly room temperature (we've seen it all). Fresh water in every bowl, every visit.

Medication administration

From daily tablets to twice-daily insulin injections, our sitters are trained and confident with medication administration. You'll share your vet's instructions through our secure form, and your sitter confirms each dose in the app. Missed doses are never an issue — we take this as seriously as you do.

Litter & cage cleaning

Cats appreciate a clean bathroom. We scoop litter trays every visit, change litter as needed, clean up any accidents, change puppy pads, and freshen bird cages or small animal enclosures. You'll come home to a clean, odour-free space — not a week's worth of surprises.

Play & companionship

A lot of pet visit services are strictly 'feed and dash.' Not us. Your sitter spends genuine time with your pet — playing, brushing, cuddling on the couch, or just being present in the room so your pet isn't alone. Cats who normally hide? They often end up on the sitter's lap by visit three.

Mail & plant check

While we're there, we'll bring in the mail, water your indoor and outdoor plants, rotate lights or blinds to simulate occupancy, and check that everything looks secure. It's a small thing, but it makes a real difference — especially on longer trips when an overflowing letterbox signals 'nobody's home.'

Security presence

A home with regular visitors looks lived-in. Our sitters come and go at predictable times, turn lights on and off, and create the appearance that someone's home. It's a genuine security benefit on top of the pet care — and one that many of our clients say gives them extra peace of mind while travelling.

Common questions

How long is each visit?
Standard visits are 1 hour, which gives your sitter enough time to handle feeding, cleaning, medication, and genuine interaction with your pet without rushing. For pets who just need a quick feed and litter scoop, 30-minute express visits are available in some areas — ask when you book. For pets who need extra attention (anxious dogs, multiple animals, complex medication routines), you can book 90-minute or 2-hour extended visits.
Can I book multiple visits per day?
Many of our clients book 2-3 visits per day — a morning visit for breakfast and medication, a midday check-in for companionship and play, and an evening visit for dinner and a final litter scoop. You set the schedule that matches your pet's routine. Some clients even book a single daily visit for low-maintenance cats who just need food and a clean tray. It's completely flexible.
Is this suitable for cats?
Home visits are our number one service for cats — and for good reason. Cats are territorial creatures who stress significantly when moved to unfamiliar environments. Boarding is often traumatic for them. Home visits keep your cat in their own space, with their own smells, their own hiding spots, and their own routine. They eat better, sleep better, and stress less. Our sitters are experienced with cats — including the ones who hide under the bed for the first two visits and end up purring on the sitter's lap by visit four.
How does the sitter access my home?
You choose what works best for you. Most clients use a lockbox (a small combination safe attached near your front door that holds a spare key — we can recommend one). Others use a spare key handover before their trip, or share a smart lock code or garage remote code. All access details are stored securely in our system and only shared with your assigned sitter. After your booking ends, you can change your code if you prefer.
What if something goes wrong?
Our sitters carry the numbers of local Gold Coast vet clinics and have a direct line to the PetHero support team. If something seems off — lethargy, loss of appetite, injury, or anything unusual — your sitter will contact you immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the nearest vet. Every booking is fully insured, so you're covered for emergency vet costs resulting from incidents during care. We'd rather be overly cautious than miss something — and our sitters are trained to spot the signs.
